these turned out.
all made possible by @jxta_arts special thanks to Niko and the talented design apprentices at Juxta // for @artspaceusa // a new space in the Harrison neighborhood // wireless LED install by @norse_electric the guy is a lighting and electrical wizard // @pdor1801 dude, not even possible without your help, thanks for putting up w my manic weirdness // feel incredibly fortunate to have played a part in this project with a team of such outstanding humans 🙏🙏
3+ months. 23 shapes poured for 3 clusters, an outdoor seating arrangement for @artspaceusa in the Harrison neighborhood, Mpls, and all put in motion by the very talented design team @jxta_arts . Grateful for Preston’s @pdor1801 help in design and fabrication, and in getting this long winded project to the finish line (and someone who will without a doubt be a name to follow in furniture/object design/creation;). Today was satisfying, getting to place and fit all shapes together for eventual tie downs and anchoring, led lighting by @norse_electric up and coming. This will be fun to see eventually all lit up on-site //
haven’t been spending enough time here. very much looking forward to the busy months ahead.
one of the more strange, in the moment let the energy take you in whatever direction it may pieces I’ve put together. I needed a small rolling desk for the new space. figured wrapping it in insulation and fabric might help as a sound deadener when not used as a desk. old drape remnants from sr harris. found other remnants for some wall panels. @navabbrothersmn for the win on this killer persian rug. they had a well loved in the perfect size. dumb luck and persistence prevails.
interior progressing.
studio finishes. walnut ceiling w 3 diff size bulbs randomly placed. fiberboard panel walls to mirror the exterior.
Seems it always has to start snowing the moment I even think of working on it;) It’s only taken most of the summer to plan.. tear down the old liability that was a shed, then permitting delays with the pandemic, me changing my mind 40 times on the design, but overall fairly pleased with how it’s turning out. Now finally resistant to the elements.. rough-in inspections done, so onto finishing the interior. My third(?) mid-life crisis has led me to selling my pickup and buying an old shitty van to help fund this build (and perhaps sneak in a few more pedal purchases that I may or may not need 😬..) All because, why the hell not. If this last year has taught me anything it’s that time moves way too quickly and we aren’t here long, so might as well create as much as humanly possible and get lost in the process while still here. Wishing you all, all the love, success and peace this coming year and beyond ✌️
@str8modern in final prep for the luxury home tour this weekend put on by @midwesthomemag // just dropped off a few of my favorite pieces // d’abri lounge // harlan coffee in walnut v concrete // harlan mod on black steel frame, walnut v concrete top
Could not be happier with this credenza / vinyl storage. Feeling a little weird that there isn’t any concrete incorporated, but still one of my very favorites to date. walnut box (slab sourced from @woodfromthehoodmpls ) and base, @richlite panel sliders w/ vertical ipe veneer. Thank you @shillinmichael for allowing me the creative freedom and letting me stretch a little on this one! (I already told him that he canNOT sell it to anyone at any point, that he can only sell it back to me;) ..And my unhealthy attachment to the inanimate objects I create continues//
extending through end of July // 25% of existing inventory going to @sheridanstory / @harvest_pack half going to each // still available, a few items from previous posts as well as all pictured here — d’abri lounge chair (pair) in pale gray on off white base, also in gray on raw steel frame (pair) and off white weight[less] end table. as always, thank you for looking and for your consideration. and if something listed here doesn’t fit the bill I’d encourage you to check out these amazing organizations and give time and/or money as you are / if you are able. thank you 🙏
@jxta_arts launched a capital campaign a couple years ago with big plans to expand facilities and invest in the futures of young creatives in North Minneapolis. This is the future of Art and Design in this city. If there were anything to get really excited about and put your money, time and energy behind, it would be Juxta. Excited for their continuing evolution and expansion. Link in profile, or visit http://juxtapositionarts.org
