Commercial work / custom artifacts
Here lives all that has been possible [thus far] knowing there is so much more work yet to be done
it is through such amazing client partners who dream and aspire as i do—to challenge themselves and the people around them—To create unabashedly [very much the energy i wish to be a part of]
bringing new artifacts into the world that serve all people, in any shared space
with materials and design intent meant to last many lifetimes.
Rafter Apartments / NE Minneapolis MN
custom reception desk in charcoal concrete, steel plate interior and floating walnut top.
still the most inquired upon piece—certainly one of the more laborious with nearly 2000 lbs of concrete poured on-site.

Ansel Apartments / St Paul MN
a design all starting with their “A” brand. a fun moving shape that the rest of the table seemed to naturally spill out from—the build beginning with a 12’ welded steel frame, then clad with walnut and concrete. conway electric run through it all—the finishing piece to the puzzle.

Parkway Place Apartments / St Louis Park MN
a large community table in walnut and concrete with steel plate cladding the underside to serve in this first floor common space, and an adjacent front desk with steel plate interior and oak slat work.

Snowballs Eyecare Boutique / Salida, CO
an incredibly fun project in helping design for their space and specific services offered; a chance to drive a box truck full of fun custom artifacts—nearly 6k lbs of goods. a trip in hindsight that should have made my palms sweat more than they did as I blindly put my faith in this rented 20’ truck while riding the brakes down some very questionable steep grade changes. I managed to not die, and rented a forklift which I drove 6 blocks to my destination which was need to unload the large custom front desk, concrete rolling display units with hidden storage, a dispensing table, another matching desk, credenza, pair of concrete lounge chairs, coffee table, end tables and custom floating shelving. already can’t wait to do it again.

New Deluxe corporate headquarters / Minneapolis MN
another fun brand image centric design. everything built from this foundational “X”. steel, walnut and concrete. i was able to convince them that matching seating was needed—one of my favorite design details I’ve put together—hidden casters in the base of the solid walnut frames, that then framed in and poured around. a heavy almost 60lbs floating and moving effortlessly, floating 1/4” off the ground.

Hall Park / Minneapolis MN
in collaboration with Juxtaposition, a student designed butterfly sculpture which is the anchoring point for this new trail bike run through the park. I put together the galvanized steel frame as they executed the wings, then put all the pieces together on-site.

All Saints restaurant / Minneapolis MN
one of our very favorite spots, managed by one of our very favorite people. it’s no coincidence they should get a chef’s table with some fun touches—the cork insert covering hardware to match the elm throughout—yes indeed, the chef’s kiss.

Nordic Plaza / Minneapolis MN
a custom built form to perfectly match the wood deck behind. formwork brought on-site and reinforced to hold the nearly 5500 lbs of concrete poured there. no straight forward angles to be found anywhere—just the right amount of spite and frustration while building it, and all the satisfaction once completed. ripped teak slats to finish off this brutalist bench seat.

Irvine Exchange / St. Paul MN
a challenge in making all in one solid piece, flipping to finish, then transporting and having it land in its new home. charcoal concrete and bookmatched elm slabs with all the right kind of movement in all the right spots.
Four Seasons / Minneapolis MN
a fun challenge in running a waterline through the finished piece, and affixing a mechanism in an all-concrete shape with concrete push button and concrete door panels to conceal. a statement in excess and duality, perfect scale and opposing extremes.
Dogwood Coffee / NE Minneapolis MN
a few fun heavy concrete geometries to lighten the mood. steel round club chairs and a concrete end. Damn I love their space.

Northside Artspace Lofts / Minneapolis MN
another Juxta led project. they came up with the idea of “speaker box” seating. we formed a few reusable forms from steel plate and melamine and poured varying sizes in three different shades of gray. finished off with some super fun color variations and embedded with remote controlled lighting (installed by the talented Norse Electric).

Eaux Claires Music Festival / Eau Claire WI
sometimes to get an opportunity to stretch, maybe given the kind of creative freedom you’d only dream of getting. so when the dreams commence, you decide to go bigger. four “letters” making up the first word of the festival, but only their top halves. it would appear the “EAUX” was rising up out of the ground. it would make for more fun when sketching it out to see out the “IV” would expose itself—this being their 4th year for this festival.

AIA MN offices / Minneapolis MN
they knocked on my door wanting a new conference table with power. fourteen feet was the need, and based on the challenge of where they were located (a few floors up, smaller elevator and entry points) it had to be constructed in parts. so the base in steel plate, three separate anchoring points—a city skyline in abstract—with a concrete top (two slabs) and maple center (bookmatched slabs glued up), all brought up to their floor, then bolted and fitted on-site. conway electric ran through the table as the finishing touch.

Northern Coffeeworks / Minneapolis MN
the first large-scale job with ply bench seating, wood v concrete tables on welded steel frames with leveling hardware, custom maple chairs and bar seating. the long row of tables created from two large maple slabs—so although the tables to sit separate, when aligned, the maple will run together as it once had.

Whitney Vermeer Studio / Minneapolis MN
custom everything—a front desk taking on the angles in abstract from her brand and initials. ply credenza with concrete sliders. maple and concrete end table with drawer pullout. maple and steel shelving. seating area outfitting with two of my favorite chairs I’ve ever made—the heaviest, most brutalist concrete and steel plate club chairs. and crown jewel, two fabric-formed sinks on custom steel and wood bases. the “W” shaped sink was one of my first ever made. and still my favorite.

Able Brewery / Minneapolis MN
maple and concrete tables inside. custom concrete and bent steel plate benches out front. the concrete patio had already been poured with wild angles—so there was no other way—the teak and steel benches had to move with the outline of the patio space.
